★story★
A Country Man is staggering drunkenly along with a box of tea on his back. He has just purchased his master's supply of tea for the year and got drunk in celebration of the deal on the tea dealer's sake. He decides to lie down by the road to sleep for a while, and loosens one of the shoulder straps on the tea bos to be more comfortable.
A shyster happens along the same road and decides to cheat the Countruy Man out of his tea. He lies down and puts his own arm through the loose strap. He pretends to wake up at the same time as the Country Man and they quarrel over the ownership of the tea box.
An Arbiter comes out to settle the dispute. The shyster manipulates the questioning so that the Country Man always has to speak first. He eavesdrops and imitates every word and action of the Country Man when it comes his turn to be questioned.
Finally the Arbiter orders them to recite their answers in a song and dance which they must both do simultaneously. The shyster, still imitating, is about three quarters of a beat behaind through the whole recitations.
The arbitter still cannot make up his mind, and says that when no decision can be made, the goods go to the arbiter. He picks up the tea box and makes a run for it. The Shyster and the Country Man chase after him shouting that they habe been cheated.
Noh"UTA-URA"(The Soothsayer)

Kogiku-maru, whose father went away whil he was still a child, is taken by the man who is looking after him to see a fortune-teller. The man chooses a slip of paper and the fortune-teller interprets the poem written on it. The boy then does the same and is told that he will be reunites with his fater right away. As they talk they find that the sooth-sayer is himself the boy's father . Before they return home together he performs a dance at the requesst of the man who brought the boy.

Oko tells his Wife that he is planning to go to the Grand Iseshirine with some of the neighbors,and asks if she will go along.She says that she would be happy to go,till she hears Sako is going.Suddenly she changes her mind and says that she is too embarrassed to go because everyone else is rich enough to have sametheing to ride on. Oko says that he has a cow she can ride on. She laughs at him and asks him where he got a cow.He explains that one day recently Sako's cow was eating in his field. He caught it and told it that he would claim it at the end of the year,and it answered,"Moo," and that at the same time Sako smiled in consent. She laughs at him and says Sako was only laughing at his stupidity.
Oko gets angry, and saysa he will take the case to court sand see who is right. She continues to make fun of him,saying that he is such a coward that he would never get his case even heard,let alone win,and suggests that before he goes, she will play the part of the judge so he can rehearse what he is going to say.
First they rehearse Sako's plea which Oko performs well,but when it comes time to play himself, he is do frightened that he can't even get the story straight,and the Wofe plays the part of the judge so forbiddingly that Oko finally passes out.
When Oko comes to, he accused his Wife of being on Sko's side.In fact, he relates an story about when he saw his wife and Sako talking bery intimately. The Wife is so angry at being found out that she beats Oko with a stick,knocks him down,and goes off in a huff. Oko picks himself up and yells out after her,"Well anyway, now I know for sure you are Sako's mistress."
In the Okura script, Oko begins by telling his Wife that he is going to take Sako to court. The scene where Oko plays the part of Sako is not in the Okura script, and the play ends with Oko and his Wife beating and screaming at each other.
Noh"KAZURAKI"

Three priests who have come to Mt. Kazuraki are given shelter from the snow by a woman, Later she asks them to pray for her to relieve her suffering, and when questioned, reveals that she is the goddess of the mountain and is being punished for having failed in her duty once in the past. Later she reappears in her true form and, having been saved from further punishment by the prayers of the priests, performs a dance for them in gratitude.
